Dr.
Ransom has taught saxophone in the Richardson, Plano, and
Lewisville school districts since 2008. He is active on
saxophone, his main instrument, having performed all over the
United States in a variety of genres including classical, jazz,
rock, country, and Hispanic and has played jazz and theatre
productions around the Gulf Coast. In the classical genre, he
has been blessed with many performances including a World
Saxophone Congress XIII performance with the USM Sax-Chamber
Orchestra, and in Washington, DC at the Kennedy Center for the
Performing Arts, and on Capitol Hill. In 2003 he won the Band
Concerto Competition at USM and was awarded a performance of the
Ingolf Dahl Concerto with the USM Wind Ensemble, Thomas
Fraschillo, conducting. Dr. Ransom can be heard on “America
Remembers”, and “Parabolically Bach”, both Produced by Roméo
Records, New York, NY. In December, 2009 he achieved his
doctorate in Saxophone Performance and Pedagogy from USM upon
completion of his dissertation, a performance project on the
Concerto for Alto Saxophone and Orchestra by Peter Jona Korn.
